A new attorney has been Called to the Bar.

Jessica Faiella was Called to the Bar during a ceremony in the Supreme Court yesterday.

Ms Faiella was a student at Bermuda High School and Saltus Grammar School before leaving to study law at the University of Exeter and BPP University in London.

She is the younger sister of Geoffrey Faiella, a prosecutor currently working on the Island who spoke in support of her.

She was introduced by Alan Dunch the Director of the law firm MJM and his Associate Jennifer Haworth.

“There is a sense of relief along with excitement in coming here today,” Ms Faiella said to Chief Justice Ian Kawaley during the ceremony. Ms Faiella thanked many people who helped her including: all of her pupil masters, her brother Geoffrey Faiella, her husband Matt and her parents.

“The ability to have fun while also having the great tenacity which I’m told you have is a great benefit,” Mr Kawaley told Ms Faiella.

“Welcome to the bar and I encourage you to join the litigation department as it provides a skill set that is easily transferable in the domain of politics.”

She is considering joining the litigation department but still has six more months of her pupillage left.
