Town and Parish youngsters excel

Bermuda youth football received a ringing endorsement at last week’s 2014 Disney Cup International presented by Roma in Orlando, Florida.

The Dandy Town under-14 girls’ team and Hamilton Parish’s under-14 boys won gold medals in their respective divisions.

Town came from 3-0 down to prevail 5-4 against previously unbeaten Virginia Rush in the girls’ final at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex on Saturday.

Their remarkable fightback avenged a 2-0 loss against Virginia Rush during the group stage, the local team’s sole defeat at the tournament.

Town were denied an impressive double after losing 3-1 against Foxtel All Stars in the under-12 boys’ Silver Premier Division final.

There was also plenty to cheer about in the Parish camp after they edged R-B United SC 2-1 in the under-14 boys Silver Premier Division final.

Also representing Bermuda were ABC Valencia, who thrashed Perfect TU Cancha 4-0 in the boys’ under-11 Bronze Premier Division final.

ABC Valencia were not so fortunate in the under-10 boys Silver Premier Division final, where they suffered a heavy 7-0 defeat at the hands of Esporte Clube.
