Battling Bermuda lose to Chile

Bermuda 0 Chile 2

Bermuda Under-20 lost their final match of the National Training Centre Invitational in Carson, California, yesterday.

Don Vickers’s team could take plenty of heart from their performance, though, as they successfully frustrated their opponents during the first half and went into the interval on level terms.

Rai Simons had Bermuda’s best chance in the first period with a turn and shot which was directed too close to the Chile goalkeeper.

At the other end, D’etre Bell made several smart saves to deny a Chilean side that finally made the breakthrough midway through the second period. The then managed to breach Bermuda’s defence again soon after taking the lead.

Bermuda, who lost to Australia 4-1 and the United States 4-0, finished bottom of the four-team group.
