Rivals set for Good Friday Cup

Premier Division and Masters League players from Devonshire Cougars and Wolves will play tonight for the inaugural Good Friday Cup, starting at 7.30pm at Devonshire Recreation Club.

A new trophy has been put up for the fun encounter which was planned earlier in the season, involving two teams with strong ties as Wolves play their home matches at the Devonshire Recreation Club.

Nadine Browne-Evans, the president of Devonshire Recreation Club, is hoping that the new trophy competition will bring the two communities together.

Mark Jennings, the Wolves coach, who got his start in football and cricket at Devonshire Recreation Club where he is an executive, said: “It’s a good rivalry between the clubs and we’re looking forward to it, despite Wolves getting relegated to the First Division.

“It’s about bringing the communities together through football, not just at the senior level but youth level as well. And despite going back down to the First Division, this will continue to be our home field.”
