A six-a-side knockout beach football tournament will be held at Horseshoe Bay next month.

The event, hosted by Budweiser, the official beer of the Fifa World Cup, and sponsored by Gosling’s, is scheduled for Saturday, May 3

The winners of the tournament will receive entry tickets to the Budweiser’s World Cup draw. Victoria Esposito, the events coordinator for Gosling’s said: “The expectation for this event is very high since we have already had a very large response from the community.

“Although the format is knockout, if you are knocked out in the first round you are still able to redeem yourself in the second-tier tournament, therefore every team will play at least two games each.”

Teams cannot consist of more than ten players.

Esposito added that the event could turn into an annual spectacle if all goes well along with events for other sports.

“We hope to continue to have similar beach football events in the coming years. We hope also to have additional tournaments for not only football but also volleyball and touch American football as well.”
